A good rare double barrelled 12 bore underlever pinfire rifle, by William Moore & Grey, number 2311, circa early 1860s, 45½" overall, barrels 29", the wide top rib having three folding leaf rearsights and engraved "William Moore & Grey, 45 Old Bond St, London", London proved; the colour hardened locks sparsely engraved with fine scroll work, signed "William Moore & Grey", and having safety bolts; dark walnut half stock with deeply chequered fore end and wrist, the frame and large scrolled trigger guard engraved with fine scrollwork; with vacant silver escutcheon, loops for sling swivels, and twin muzzle plugs. VGWO&C, the bores excellent. £2500-3500
