1751 LETTER WITH FRENCH RECEIVING MARKS: July 1751 EL from Cap to Bordeaux. Partly boxed agent's handstamp "I.DUFORREST/A.BORDEAUX" in black split across the flap on reverse. Mr I Duforrest acted as an agent for distribution of incoming mail in the Bordeaux area. He traded extensively with Saint Domingue and is credited as the first forwarding agent to use a handstamp.
