A GEORGE III SCOTTISH TWO-HANDLED CUP. of campana form, with twin angular handles and decorated with a frieze of engraving around the rim and around the foot, bearing two inscriptions below the Royal Artillery emblem, "FROM OFFICERS, NON-COMMIS'D OFFICERS & PRIVATES OF THE R'L PERTH VOLUNTEER ARTILLERY. THIS CUP IS RESPECTFULLY PRESENTED TO 'CAPT' BENJAMIN FENWICK OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERY AS A SMALL TOKEN OF THEIR REGARD" on the front & "AND IN REMEMBRANCE OF HIS UNWEARIED EXERTIONS IN TEACHING THEM THE EXERCISE OF THE GREAT GUNS AND IN TRAINING THEM TO THEIR DUTY AS SOLDIERS, PERTH 30 AUG 1804", on the reverse, by William & Patrick Cunningham, Edinburgh 1802; 10.75" (27.2cm) high; 27.85ozt. *CR A bit worn, bright & polished, rocks a bit in place, but nice marks.
