Rudolf Heltzel

Pendant, created for Butler Gallery by Christopher Heltzel, 2021.
This sterling silver creation presented here features a rectangular Lapis Lazuli mined in the majestic mountains of Afghanistan. Lazurite, Sodalite, Calcite and Pyrite crystallised over thousands of years to form an intense blue gem, favoured for enctureis by royalty. In ancient Egypt, Cleopatra used Lapis Lazuli extensively in her jewellery, and also had it ground into powder for dye, eye shadow and medicinal elixirs. Stamped.  6.5cms x 3.5cms.
