UPU. The very rare 1897 USA p.due set of 7, each ovpt "UNIVERSAL/ POSTAL/ CONGRESS" in blue, for the 1897 5th meeting of the UPU in Washington. The condition is remarkably fine, each with full gum, lightly hinged and well centred, the 3c, 5c, 10c and 50c have one straight edge each. The majority of these UPU sets exist with disturbed or no gum as they were affixed into the Specimen albums distributed to the member countries. Only 125 sets were produced and most are now lost to philately, each stamp being very rare. (See photos) (S)
