The painting depicting Antonio Grove & Theo Clinkard, founders of Probe Dance Company at the Merlin Theatre, Frome during the artist's residency between 2006 and 2009.
Godsill's work centres around the figure, whether through portraits, self-portraits or with narrative. The passage of years and the passing of familial generations has helped define that what she seeks to represent is not ‘nostalgia,’ which suggests a certain mawkishness, but instead an element of historical memory, a link profoundly felt with a time, place and people no longer reachable. Sarah Godsill was born in London in 1965 and studied at Kingston Polytechnic 1983 Foundation Art Course.
