This portrait dates from the 1960s, when the Chilean painter, who became well known for his hyper-realist style, had established himself in Madrid as a society portraitist, where he did very well. Indeed, two years after this was painted Bravo was invited by President Marcos of the Philippines to come and paint him and his wife, Imelda Marcos.
