A c 1890’s topographical fan, the plain bone monture mounted with a silk leaf in turquoise blue, painted to the left with a large church or grand stone complex with towers, a similar building centrally, and another to the right, a stone cottage in the foreground, these building interspersed with large daisies, sprays of ferns, and butterflies, guard approx. 35.5cm; together with a second bone fan, the monture carved and incised, the cream silk leaf painted with a flower seller, and an Art Nouveau bone monture lacking a leaf (3)
The first fan, the silk leaf is starting to split in the centre and has some lifting of the backing layer, but the fan remains generally strong. The second fan has a broken upper guard and the leaf needs to be stuck to the lower guard, some splitting to the backing cotton layer.
