George III (1760-1820), Proof Halfcrown, 1818, small laureate head right, reverse crowned shield in Garter, edge milled, (ESC 622 R4; Bull 2101; S.3789). As struck with superb silver and blue toning. Conservatively graded and encapsulated by NGC as PF62.The only example to be graded by NGC and subsequently the finest graded and top population.Although attributed a rarity of R4, we suspect that it is even rarer than that. We can only trace the Colin Adams specimen in 2005 to have sold at auction in the last 20 years.
