Pair of Victorian Period Imperial Yeomanry Binoculars


blackened brass, extendable eye lenses engraved "177th Coy Fincastles Horse".  The top eye mounts with maker "W Gregory & Co London".  Leather covered body.  Gilt tooled "C.C.H.".  Blackened brass, pull out over lens shades.  Contained in their leather maker's transit case.  The lid with initials "C.C.H."


177 (Fincastles Horse) Company. 31st Battalion Imperial Yeomanry served during the Boer War.  Raised by Alexander Murray 8th Earl of Dunmore (Viscount Fincastle) in 1901.
