Documents & Ephemera - Stafford Assizes - Murder Case - 4 Convicts sent to Australia.  1843. 11th March. The prosecution case papers, witness statements, original draft copy of the £40- reward notice, etc. James Perry, William Byatt, Samuel & William Robinson were all found guilty of night poaching, assaulting & shooting the gamekeeper, one Robert Arnold at Checkley, on land owned by John Burton Phillips of Heath House, all sentenced to 14 years transportation & three transported on the ship "Anson" in 1843 & one on the ship "Lord Auckland" in 1844.  (32 items in a bundle).
