Myles Birket Foster RWS (1825-1899) "The ride home" rural scene with children and donkey, watercolour painting, monogrammed lower right, 26cm x 38cm, ornate gilt frame, mounted and glazed (to the reverse, pasted provenance, relating to "Chris Beetles" gallery, St. James's, London, this painting was exhibited in Chris Beetles Summer Show 1998, No 46. This painting was also used as an illustration "In Rustic England" by A B Daryll, published by Hodder and Stoughton, 1906, facing page 116) / Condition: a little discolouration in the white areas, painting has has slipped a little in the mount and you can see this evident with the revelation of what was hidden. We have a scanned copy of the receipt from "Chris Beetles" for the sum of £23,500.
