The squarer-styled Mark II version of the Escort appeared in January 1975, and the first production models rolled off the production lines on 2 December 1974. Unlike the first Escort, which was developed by Ford of Britain, the second generation was developed jointly between the UK and German divisions of Ford. Codenamed "Brenda" during its development, it used the same mechanical components as the Mark I. The RS2000 version, with its distinctively slanted polyurethane nose, and featuring the Pinto engine from the Cortina, was announced in the UK in March 1975.
This example of the Mk2 RS2000 has a Limited Slip Differential, a Single Rear Spring and Disc Brake conversion, and Gaz adjustable Shock Absorbers. Poly Suspension Bushes have been fitted all round, a 5 Speed Gear Box is now fitted, plus there are Front Vented Brake Discs and up rated Springs, an anti dive kit, and braided flexible brake hoses all round.
The engine has had a new standard RS cam with followers.and cam belt, new stem oil seals, thermostat, dizzy cap and leads,12v non ballast coil with Aldron electronic ignition. Also there is a double rail Alloy Radiator, a new battery, new RS exhaust. The body has had new inner and outer front wings, front panel, door skin, rear arches and rear quarter lower panels.
The wheels have been Diamond cut and have new 185/60/13's fitted. The interior is in good order for the year, no nasty rips etc. the dash is good (not split like many do due to sun damage). This car has had 11 previous owners, but unfortunately there is not much history or paper work with the car.
