Fees

Two items of postal history to Guernsey: the first entire dated 1st March 1797 from London to Guernsey; pre-paid 9d rather than 8d and sent the unusual route 'via Brixham', general 'post paid 1797' cancel (in use 1795-1801); the second an 1897 commercial illustrated cover (J le Page, Decorator, Mount Vernon NY) to a family member on Guernsey, very probably 'Wreck Mail' as it has a boxed 'Damaged By Immersion In Sea Water' packet, the stamp not present but the cancel is clear (Mount Vernon NY Jun 15 97), on its transit through London it acquired the red 'London Paid 24 Ju 97' cancel (2)
