Four vintage Japanese shima plaids, narrow tanmono (14” approx. ) loom. worn, faded and beautiful. recycled from clothing and bedding, aichi prefecture, Honshu, mid 20th century. a- 62”, asymmetric, large shima plaid, small holes and repairs yet stunning subtle colouring. Cotton. b- 36”, softly faded shima plaid, 5 colour cotton. pieced and boro repaired. a beautiful vintage piece. c- 37” muted shima plaid, 6 colour cotton. complex asymmetric layout. d- 35” large shima plaid, 6 colour cotton with slubs in one, a more traditional layout, but beautiful colours.
