GREAT BRITAIN 2½d USED IN SUAKIN/RARE KORTI STAR & CRESCENT POSTMARK/1897 PROVISIONAL TYPE FRANKINGS: 1884 2½d lilac, DE on small piece with almost complete superb strike of "BRITISH ARMY POST OFFICE/A/EGYPT" c.d.s. of 21 May 1885. Rare. Also, a piece of env. (OAS officer's stampless letter with part of 2½d & "T" charge marks in evidence) showing the very rare large 'Star & Crescent' postmark of Korti dated 23 Feb.1885, in use for just 4 months. Also 8 Nov. 1897 5m Egyptian Postal stat. env optd. "SOUDAN" from Wadi-Halfa Camp to Lt. Col. Sloggett (Principal Medical Officer at Battle of Omdurman) in Alexandria, with Alexandrie & Military Post Office, Alexandria c.d.s.'s and 13 Dec. 1897 env bearing 1m & 3m (damaged) issues of Egypt optd. "SOUDAN" with Halfa c.d.s. addressed in arabic and backstamped Cairo. (2 covers, 2 pieces & 1 stamp)
