Queen's Sudan Medal, Khedive's Sudan Medal with 'The Atbara' and 'Khartoum' clasps, King's South Africa Medal with 'South Africa 1901' and 'South Africa 1902' clasps, and Queen’s South Africa Medal with 'Wittebergen', 'Diamond Hill', 'Johannesburg' and 'Cape Colony' clasps. Native of Rotherham, Yorkshire. Enlisted at Shorncliffe on 16th April 1892, aged 21, having previously served in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Yorkshire Light Infantry. Joined 1st Battalion, The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders on 3rd March 1893. Served in Malta from 1893 to 1895, Gibraltar from 1895 to 1897, Egypt from 1897 to 1900, and South Africa from 1900 to 1902. Granted Good Conduct Pay on 13th April 1898 and extended his term of service to 12 years on 28th August 1899. Discharged 12th April 1904.
