A LATE 17TH BRACKET CLOCK WITH QUARTER BELL STRIKE BY JOHN SHAW LONDON, the ebonised case having a low caddy top, gilded filigree decorations and opposing female handle, the 8 inch dial plate with silvered chapter ring, angelic spandrels, matted inner, blued filigree hands and ringed decorations to the winding holes / date aperture, silent strike lever above 12 numeral, the four pillar movement with twin fusee train and verge escapement, striking the quarters on a series of small bells and the hourly strike on large bell, the rear plate richly engraved with repeat pull via blued-steel interconnecting levers, regulated by a pear shaped small bob pendulum, overall H 40 cm

Movement very clean. Going train ticks on winding. Striking train rings correctly on the hourly strike. Quarter strikes work on bells when blued levers are activated but not via the minute hand. Ebonised case and gilded decorations appear to have been restored.
