1953 proof Crown issued to celebrate the Coronation of Elizabeth II, graded PF 67 Cameo by NGC (S 4136). Obverse: equestrian portrait of the Queen, riding left in Grenadier Guards uniform worn during Trooping the Colour ceremony. 'EIIR' monograms to either side. Legend around reads: 'ELIZABETH · II · DEI · GRATIA · BRITT · OMN · REGINA · FIDEI · DEFENSOR' with 'FIVE SHILLINGS' below. Artist: Edgar Fuller. Reverse: cruciform shields of arms with a crown in the centre and national flower emblems in the angles, from top clockwise: rose, shamrock, leek and thistle. '19 53' arranged around the leek. Edge: 'FAITH AND TRUTH I WILL BEAR UNTO YOU'. Originally part of a 1953 proof specimen set. Comes sealed in NGC holder (#6320544-001). Mintage: 40,000. Finish: proof. Composition: copper-nickel. Weight: 28.28g. Diameter: 38.61mm.
