Lucy Dawson (1870 - 1954) - an original pastel artwork by British illustrator Lucy Dawson, depicting two Yorkshire Terriers called 'Tiny' and 'Foxy'. Believed to have been published for either a series of Wills cigarette cards, postcards or for one of her books. Framed and glazed, and signed to the side of the painting. Measuring approximately 30 cm x 35 cm including the frame.
Lucy Dawson (1870 - 1954) was a British illustrator known for her paintings and etchings of dogs. She created art for playing cards, cigarette cards and postcards, as well as accepting commissions by individuals, most notably the Royal Family, in which she painted the Queen's Mother's favourite Corgi, Dookie, whose portrait was later reproduced as a Christmas card. Additionally she published several dog-related books, including 'Dogs As I See Them' (1936), 'Dogs Rough and Smooth' (1937) and others.
