A COLLECTION OF TWENTY TWO ADMIRAL VERNON MEDALS. A collection of medals celebrating the capture of Portobello in 1739 by Admiral Vernon. Admiral Vernon became a popular hero due to his naval exploits and these medals are typical of the numerous examples produced with a standing figure of the Admiral on the obverse and a fleet of ships on the reverse 'He took Portobello with six ships only'. Nineteen approximately 3.5cm, three 2.7cm. (22). *CR: Mixed condition, some with good clear detail, others rubbed. *BP 22.5% (18.75% plus VAT) plus a lot fee of £8 inc. VAT on each lot.
