A good silver mounted 14 bore flintlock sporting gun by Wilson, made for the Turkish market, c 1760, 53½” overall, round barrel 38”, 9½” of the breech deeply embossed, chiselled and engraved with trophies, foliage and crescent within sunburst, on a ground of fish roe gilt, and engraved across the barrel “LONDON“ in a semi circle; rounded lock with swan neck cock chiselled with banner and scimitar, the plate signed “Wilson” in flowing script; fully silver mounted walnut fullstock, including three sets of barrel wedge plates, the trigger guard, butt plate tang, side plate and escutcheon deeply embossed with trophies and with traces of gilt, the fore end inlaid with silver wire scrolls and with crescent moon and stars within a circle, carved around the breech tang with shell and foliage and with some silver wire scroll inlay; with silver tipped wooden ramrod.
