accurately modelled as in working practice in oak with framed, planked and pinned carvel hull fitted internally with moulded seats, gratings, removable panels, set of oars, boat hook, metal spider anchor, bucket, bailer, mast with lateen yard, boom and gib with stitched linen sails, secured to cradle stand on shaped display base inscribed Made by Salvatore Lauro / Metropole Camp / Douglas (I.O.M.) Lt. Cyril Standen (1914-1999) who worked at Metropole and Hutchinson Camps, IoM.
The internees were encouraged to make articles for sale and a shop was set up in The Arcade (a micro Douglas shopping 'mall') to sell to the general public. It's unknown if this model was bought or given, but Lt. Standen did become adjutant of Hutchinson Camp.
