Sword: Geo V 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's sword. Steel guard with Geo V Cypher. Owners name 2/Lieut William Macdonald Maitland 5th BN Royal Dublin Fus: engraved inside the bowl (some roughness to nickel finish). Good blade 33" (proved) with Geo V Cypher. Wirebound leather grip. In its leather field service scabbard with part sword frog. MIC shows: 2/Lieut & R. Dublin Fus. Lieut 5th R. Dublin Fus. (attached R.E.) to France 22.3.16. Address noted as: 31 Byron Road Ealing Common W5. Plus his Great War original commission document for W.M Maitland 2nd Lieutenant Special Reserve of Officers 5th Battalion. The Royal Dublin Fusiliers dated 21.4.15.
