GUADELOUPE - AMERICAN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE - FRENCH P.O.W. COVER AFTER BATTLE OF GUADELOUPE; Fine 1 Jan. 1780 EL sent from a French P.O.W. on board the 'Suffolk' to a Marine Officer (Lieut. Ackroyd) on board the ship soon after the Suffolk had been involved in the naval Battle of Guadeloupe (on 21-22 Dec. 1779) in which captured the writer's ship, 'La Fortunee' was captured; understandably unsealed as privately carried within the ship, thanking Lieut. Ackroyd for his kindness and offering his help on "Guadeloupe", signed "Lecte De Moyelle, Capitaine a La Suitte du Regiment de la Guadeloupe sur des terres a La Capestere, isle Guadeloupe".
