RARE "TAY PLEASURE STEAMER/[clouds]/*MARCHIONESS OF BUTE*" SHIP's CACHET ON CARD VIA DUNDEE; Fine 4 Aug. 1914 PPC (of the ship on the Tay) to Aberdeen with KGV ½d tied by fine "DUNDEE" machine cancel with a very fine (though overstruck) purple rare 3-ring "TAY PLEASURE STEAMER/[clouds]/*MARCHIONESS OF BUTE*" cachet alongside. Few examples of this steamer mark are known. Exhibition Quality. [Similar to the Michael Champness card in Cavendish's Jan. 2014 auction, lot 1218; which realised £345].
