A RARE TYPE 19 BRITISH INERT GRENADE, used and issued to the Army in WWI, this weapon was introduced to supplement the short supply on the number one and two grenades and saw most of its use between 1915-16 when it was replaced by the more effective Mills 36 Hand Grenade, to ensure that the grenade hit the ground nose first, a cloth streamer was attached, and when thrown it unfurled acting almost as a guide fin to stabilise flight, the grenade was much disliked by the troops due to a delicate trigger in the nose plate/detonater
