A VICTORIAN PAPIER MACHE WORK/GAMES TABLE, third quarter 19th century, the oblong serpentine top painted with a floral bouquet and gilded foliage within an inlay of mother-of-pearl, opening to reveal an inlaid chequer board, the deep frieze with turned pendants and fitted drawer over a sliding wooden basket, raised on baluster turned end supports and trestle base with scroll feet joined by a turned stretcher, 23" w x 15 3/4" d x 30" h (Est. plus 24% premium inc. Generally, remarkably good condition given the fragility of the material. Very minor loss to right rear corner of top and some wear to gilt edge of chequer board consistent with use. Some small tears to paper lining of frieze drawer and two mother of pearl button handles to lidded compartments missing. Minor wear to gilding of base.
