WW1 Imperial German Rare Variation Trench Fighting Knife by F.W.Backhaus A good rare example with 15cm straight spear point, sawback blade. This stamped with the cutler's details of F.W.Backhaus Ohligs-Solingen. The hilt with straight steel cross guard, this incorporating a barbed-wire snapper slot and complete with two piece wooden grip. Housed in metal scabbard with leather belt loop and retaining strap. Overall GC. See ‘Fighting Knives’ by Frederick J. Stevens, illustration 208 for a similar example.
