A Queen Anne walnut and marquetry longcase clock - the square brass dial with twin cherub and crown spandrels, the silvered Roman chapter ring signed 'Jno. Ingram Spalding', enclosing a matted centre with silvered subsidiary seconds dial at 12 and bullseye date aperture and winding holes, fronting a bell strike movement with four knopped pillars and anchor escapement, the case with a caddy top with floral marquetry and three (later) gilt brass ball and eagle finials, over a floral marquetry glazed door and glazed sides to the hood, the trunk with boxwood-strung panels to the sides and a yew wood veneered door with an oval lenticle and three shaped marquetry panels decorated with flowers and foliate including tulips, within a half-round edge moulding, the plinth base with a conforming marquetry panel and plain plinth beneath, the base probably reduced in height, 222 cm high, some losses to marquetry to the plinth and some pieces detached but present.
