The son of master artist Li Kuchan, Li Yan (1943-) was born in Beijing in 1943. He is a Professor of Fine Arts at the College of Tsinghua University, a member of China Artists Association, Vice President of Qi Baishi Art Research Association, Li Kuchan Memorial Hall, Deputy director of Art Museum, librarian of Central Literature and History Museum, Vice President of Central Painting and Calligraphy Institute of Jiu San Society, as well as Vice President of China Zhouyi Society.
