Eight day longcase clock 'William Gardner in Uxbridge fecit' with 10" dial, cherub and scroll spandrels in walnut case with quartered veneers and tapering barley twist columns, the hood formerly rising, with original hook. Various restorations late 17th/early 18th century.
Case looks late 17th/early 18th century. Old oak carcass with some original veneers. Door may have had some restoration (no trace of key escutcheon) old hinges nailed to door but re-fitted old screws on trunk. Hood top old but restorations on slide and mouldings on base. Nice tapering barley twist columns. Fret possibly original. Old hook nailed on. Bun feet replaced but base seems to be the same as trunk.
Movement with possible wheel and pinion replacements. Back cock and pendulum 19th century brass cased weights, probably original.
