Mark William Langlois (British, 1848-1924). Smoking Cavalier, watercolour heightened with gouache painting of a cavalier in traditional dress smoking, hand on hip stood next to a morion helmet. Signed ‘M W Langlois 1870’ to lower right of painting. In a gilt frame. Langlois was born in Surrey into an artistic family, known to have exhibited at the Royal Academy he achieved popularity with still life, landscape and genre scenes. Primarily painting in oil, Langlois also painted watercolours that he heightened details with further touches of paint. 22cm x 33cm.
