Heavy Brigade charger's 1855 Crimea Medal (Sardinia) re-named in upright capitals to Francis Sutherland Capt 2nd Drags Scots Greys, suspender replaced with ring, polished, fine.
Mentioned with a page and half write up in "The Charge of the Heavy Brigade" by Roy Dutton which confirms he took part in the charge. Commissioned by purchase 24/9/47, Lieut 11/4/51, Capt Nov 1854, resigned his commission 1856. His Crimea Medal with 3 clasps was sold with an un-named Turkish Crimea Medal and range of original documents and artefacts by DNW 22/9/2006. (See photo) (Y)
