HANDSTRUCK "1s" MARKS APPLIED IN IRELAND - DISTINCTIVE [LONDON]DERRY (2) OR DUBLIN TYPES; Mar./May 1861 pair of envs. from Mono Mills CW to Sligo both having h.s. "8" claim marks (of Mono Mills or Toronto) but both also having very fine tall h.s. "1s" marks (tall thin "s") of [London]Derry on the front because both were landed from the Allan Line 'Bohemian' at Derry (each with Derry cds) and so did not need to transit Dublin at all. Plus Dec. 1862 env. (some wear) from Kinkora CW to Dublin with a different v. fine tall h.s. "1s" mark (smaller squat "s") struck at Dublin (cds on reverse) even though it was landed at Derry by the Allan Line 'North American'. Rare trio.
