λ An early 18th century ivory fan, with plain ivory sticks and guards, the guards with silver piqué work and a crown surmount a panel with two eagles. The leaf mounted à l'anglaise fashion and hand painted with an elegant lady with a parrot beside an open cage being watched and talked about by two young beaus. Beautifully gilded border surround. Mother of pearl thumb guard at the base. Circa 1730. Length 28cm.
