A FIRST WORLD WAR GROUP OF FIVE TO THE ROYAL NAVY. A group of five comprising an Edward VII Long Service and Good Conduct Medal to 340012 Charles Crook Cooper H.M.S Fisgard. Edward VII Africa General Service Medal with Somaliland 1908-10 clasp named to 340012 C. Crook Cooper H.M.S. Proserpine, 1914-15 Star named to 340012 C. Crook Cpr R.N. War Medal and Victory Medal Similarly named. Charles Crook was born on the 3rd May 1872 at Winchester. He joined the Royal Navy on the 17th January 1894 for 12 years at Portsmouth. He was discharged on the 20th September 1918 from H.M.S. Inconstant. His LSGC was awarded on the 27 February 1909. Interestingly in March 1922 he was granted a patent for his invention of an improved tobacco pipe. His brother James Crook was a casualty at Jutland aboard H.M.S. Indefatigable as one of 1,017 men who died when she sank at the Battle. Mounted for display with copied research including copied photographs of the recipient in uniform, details of the 'improved pipe' and original documents.
Good condition with some marking from wear and cleaning.
