The remaining personal effects of Marie-Elizabeth de Lotbinière-Harwood Steele (1859-1951) a note book dated January 18th 1876- August 18th 1878, Vaudreuil P. Quebec, stories letters and poems together with a small scrap book belonging to Maye Harwood, later Lady Steele, 1873-74, a small photograph or Unwin and Maye, April 1865 marked in red A.M.A.Moffatt Photographer, Vaudreuil, a pair of fine white kid gloves and a machine made silk shawl (4). Marie Elizabeth was born on 3 May 1859, and was baptized two days later in Vaudreuil. She was the daughter of Robert William Harwood and Marie Charlotte McGillis.[1] She married Samuel Bonfield Steele on 15 January 1890 in Vaudreuil.[2] In 1890 Sir Sam Steele had married Marie Elizabeth, daughter of Robert William de Lotbinière-Harwood, M.P. There were three children in this family - Flora Macdonald, Gertrude, and Harwood Elmes.
