A selection of green agate jewellery comprised of a large oval brooch, 12cm wide, a smaller brooch, a string of graduated cylindrical green agate beads, a pair of stud earrings and two rings.

We are pleased to be offering this lot from the stock of family run firm Shipton and Co., who were based in Hastings White Rock area, and who were unfortunately forced to close their doors in 2014 after a section of the rock face above collapsed onto their shop, making the building unsafe.  Found the world over agate is a stone that has been used for jewellery and decorative purposes since ancient times.  In Roman mythology green agate glorifies the Roman Earth goddess Aurora who is goddess of the dawn, fertility, and the mother of the winds. In modern times green agate is celebrated by those who believe it has the ability to restore balance when we feel off-kilter, and is thought to inspire good health, a friendly disposition, and bravery.
