WW1 Indian Army 36th Jacobs Horse Officers Casualty MC Winners 1914 Mons Star. Awarded to Lieutenant Colonel Maxwell Montague Carpendale MC who died on the 14th October 1918. Comprising: 1914 Mons Star CAPT M.M. CARPENDALE 36/HORSE. This is an Indian mint issue as confirmed on the Medal Index Card. Lieutenant Colonel Maxwell Montague Carpendale MC was born in India in 1883. He was commissioned in 1902 in the 36th Jacobs Horse. He was promoted to Captain in 1911 and with this rank landed in France on the 7th November 1914. Various sources indicate he was awarded the MC in July 1916 and he was later posted to the Middle East. Whilst serving at Damascus with the rank of Acting Lt Col he died on the 14th October 1918.
