An India General Service Medal 1908 with two clasps in a group of three to an early WW2 casualty of the BEF in France, consisting of: India General Service Medal 1908 with two clasps ‘Mohmand 1933’ and ‘North West Frontier 1935’, named to: 2319994 Sgln J J Kelly R Signals (the 2nd clasp loose on the ribbon); 1939-1945 Star and War Medal 1939-45, these two un-named as issued. Joseph James Kelly was born in 1911 at Crowthorne, Berkshire. A pre-war regular soldier, he was serving with the 4th Divisional Signals in France when he died of wounds on 20 May 1940 during the withdrawal to Dunkirk. He has no known grave
and is remembered on the Dunkirk Memorial. With copy of medal roll for the IGS confirming the clasps, a biographical note and copy Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave registration. Medals mounted for display.
