WILLIAM AMBROSE MOORHEAD (1805-63) A good silver mounted walnut presentation casket bearing an engraved plaque 'To The Honorable William Ambrose Moorhead by the Inhabitants of Madras on the 23rd of October 1862' containing a large vellum scroll and presented on the occasion of Moorheads retirement as after his many decades in service in Madras as a Judge, member of the Madras Legislative Council (1857-62), Chancellor of the University of Madras with a enclosed scroll from the university and also as Governor of Madras for two terms in 1860 and in 1860-61. After retiring he went to Edinburgh where he died in 1863. 18 x 82 x 19 cms
