A good early 19th century, Jane Austen period, brisé fan with many features: barrel rivet, tortoiseshell guards clouté with steel, nineteen inner sticks, the tips scalloped and pointed, of card or peau d’añe, printed and hand-coloured centrally with a scene of ruins next to a river, with country folk and a mule going about their business next to a shed, the reserves painted in gold, the verso is plain, guard approx. 16cm
In good order, ribbon appears strong.
