A MASSIVE COPPER SCULPTURE OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI seated resting his head on his hands, deep in thought, with long cane referring to the pilgrimage. Wearing the habit of the Franciscan order, tied with a simple corded rope known as a cinture with three knots representing poverty, chastity and obedience.
The Bronze with weathered green patina on a wooden plinth.
6 ft 6 ins high, 4 ft wide, 3 ft deep.
Provenance, originally in a villa in Assisi, Perugia, Italy.
