Michael Laurence Dillon (1915-1962), born Laura Maude Dillon, was, in 1946, the first trans person to undergo FTM top surgery, followed by phalloplasty, the latter undertaken by plastic surgeon, Sir Harold Gillies, the father of modern plastic surgery, and a colleague, during thirteen operations completed in 1949.
