Welcome to our auction.
[See also our Timed Online Auction on Tuesday 18 July.]
We've been running traditional public auctions of stamps and collectables in Edinburgh since 1977. Unable to continue these due to Covid concerns, we moved online.
I hope we can take many of our principals with us on this move - honest and competent descriptions, competitive charges, and a long track record of bids not being abused.

The sale starts at 5:00pm, and will have an audio and video feed of the auctioneer throughout.

As I am working towards semi-retirement I am clearing all stock from our retail shop. This auction (and the next day's timed auction) is almost entirely material from this stock clearance. The few lots belonging to our last third-party vendors are marked with the code [v].
The intention this time has been to make a good clearance of "back shop stock" as possible. This may be back-up material, duplicated spare stock, previously "retired" stock, much material which had not yet been processed into stock, items which had been set aside for closer inspection, and so on.
Some lots are therefore typical lots - single items, sets, small collections, and so on, but there's also much which is clearly "wholesale" material, very suitable for anybody who is reselling in a small or big way. Reserves have often been set at around our original cost price (sometimes below !).
Our next auction will have more of the same, but also moving on to disposal of "front shop stock".

INSTRUCTIONS AND RULES for online bidders;
If you are new to this platform, please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions - both for EasyLive Auction and for ourselves. You must set up an account with EasyLive Auction, and also register for this sale, before you make any online bids.
EasyLive Auction charge bidders a fee for taking part online. You have the choice of two methods; {a} You can pay a single £3 fee up front when registering or {b} if you do not pay the flat fee you will be charged 3% (+ v.a.t.) on your purchases.

VIEWING; Viewing is available - by appointment only - at our shop in Edinburgh. To arrange a time you should either phone (0131 552 1220 or 0131 478 7021) or email ([email protected]), and you should have ready a list of the lots you want to see. However, please do as much online viewing as possible - we are willing to provide extra information - all requests will be considered. We may also make short videos of several lots, which will be on our Robert Murray Stamp Shop page on Facebook (a note will be added to these lots' descriptions when this is available).

ILLUSTRATIONS; At the point of going live there were just a few lots without illustrations - these gaps will be corrected shortly.
Some lots are on stockcards, and these sometimes show a very fine horizontal line when scanned.
Some lots are on stockleaves which may have interleaving partly obscuring the image.
Please read the descriptions, as many lots only have sample pictures.

TELEPHONES; Our phone lines are only staffed at certain times. Our answering machine will always give a note of these times for the coming days.

NB some catalogue prices in the lot listings are from older editions, as some of the cataloguing work is done from home without always having latest catalogues to hand.

Remember you can use the search option to look for any lots in your area of interest.

Our Buyer’s Premium is 14.4% (12% + v.a.t.).

We have a timed auction the day after this one, and are happy to send lots from both sales together.
