George VI (1936-52), Gold proof Set, four coin set issued in 1937, Coronation year, Five Pounds, Two Pounds, Sovereign and Half-Sovereign, with bare head of King left, HP raised below for designer Humphrey Paget, legend and outer border surrounding, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP. Rev, Saint George slaying the dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue for Benedett o Pistrucci, edges plain, housed in original maroon Royal Mint case. Mintage 5,501 (S.PS15; W&R: 435,437,439, 442). Some contact marks on Sovereign, few of the usual faint wispy hairlines on the other pieces. The Five pounds struck up especially well with frosting and some cameo eff ect in the fields. Practically as struck.
