South African Light Horse Boer War sheet brass slouch hat badge circa 1899-1902. Good thick brass Maltese cross example. Arms bearing SALH initials, 1899 to centre. (Owen 661). GC Raised 8.11.1899 under Lt.Col. Hon. J.H.G. Byng, Known as The Sakabulas from the black tail feathers of that bird worn in the slouch hats.
