VICTORIA - RARE DIAMOND "GB/1F224/10C" MARK STRUCK IN MELBOURNE: 23 Mar. 1864 E from Melbourne to Nantes via Marseilles with scarce red diamond "GB/1F224/10C" accountancy mark (mostly fine). This article was intended for 'Foreign Countries in Asia' used in error due to the London G.P.O. having shipped the incorrect hs's to Australia; only known for 1864. Front also bears "18" decimes h.s. charge, Melbourne cds & Marseilles entry mark. Paris & Nantes backstamps plus oval "E.P.".
