A MINTON PARIAN FIGURE OF 'DOROTHEA'

after the statue by John Bell, stamped to the base, the female figure disguised as a young man, 35cm high; together with a similar figure of 'Miranda', also after John Bell, stamped to the base, 40cm high (2)

Note: The statuette of Dorothea is based upon the character from Don Quixote. A comparable figure can be found in the Victoria and Albert museum, accession number 2788-1901. Miranda was the daughter of Prospero in William Shakespeare's Tempest. The model can similarly be found at CIRC.694-1964.
